Does Heat Make Your Itching Worse Too? Also I Have A Worse Time At Night

A MyPrurigoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I used hot showers or soaks to ease my fibromyalgia but it makes PN worse. I am on Cymbalta for depression and the fibro . The places in my scalp are the worse. Triamcinolone has helped other areas but almost impossible to use even after cutting my long hair to a short bob. My PN is a result of an allergy to compounds used in titanium for a shoulder replacement. Anybody had this? I dread the Southern heat this summer. Wish this stuff got more publicity so folks would stop saying don't scratch… read more

Oh yeah! Glad I came across your post. I also have Fibro (for years)! I also have thinning hair, probably due to age, but you never know. It itches in the back quit often.
I also use Cymbalta for Fibro pain. I also have two titanium neck vertabrea. It all makes me wonder about the similarities!?!?

Take a warm bath with bleach. this takes the inflammation of PN sores down and helps them to heal faster. And makes the skin soft believe it or not.

Kathy, I thought of another intervention for you to try. There is a supplement that supposedly helps with itching. It's N-Acetyl-Cysteine. (NAC). The dose is 600 mg twice per day. It is available through Amazon and other outlets may carry it. My dermatologist recommended it for the itching. Why don't you ask your dermatologist about it?

Hi Kathy! The scalp is the worst! My dermatologist prescribed Derma Smooth for the nodules and I discovered through this website that Head and Shoulders may be a good choice for a shampoo. I purchased Head and Shoulders Bare because it has no added ingredients. Artic Cool clothing may help you in the heat. I have similar conditions and each one has its own set of challenges. I have titanium in my body as well but I haven't been told that PN is related to it. Please keep fighting and advocating for yourself because you are worth it!
