Successful Type Of Treatment?
YAY! I know some make you think you are really cray, cray like a mental illness which in some ways could possibly be as I have been diagnosed with PTSD (no foreign wars, just the "War of Life"), and also OCD (Virgo could have something to do with that, LOL)!! One supposedly great Derma on the Board of Derm w/local university basically suggested Psychotherapy! Until they experience this rare disease and study this, they will never know how to treat us with this horrific disease. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!
I have had PN for close to 25 yrs. It took a little while to get a diagnosis. One dermatologist told my house must have fleas. A treat of dermatologists viewed my skin during their monthly Grand Rounds. I had been to an immunologist with no luck. An allergist diagnosed PN. I believe it is an auto immune disorder. I also believe when doctors don’t know a diagnosis, they like to say it’s all in the patient’s head. Don’t believe it. I have tried laser treatment, wrapping my legs with bandages and zinc oxide, thalidomide and now Dupixxen (sp?). Thalidomide worked but I worried about the long term affect. I started Dupixxen at the end of June as recommended by my dermatologist. I no longer look like a freak. My skin looks better and better each day. It’s a miracle drug for me.
