I Have Theory That My PN Started As An Immune Reaction To Prostate Medication I Started Taking 8 Weeks Ago. My Doctor Rules It Out But.....?

Thanks for sharing your story
It definitely seems the this PN causes or at least appears as a result of some other health issue for almost everyone in this group.
It's a trial and error guessing game to to see what medications work and which ones dont. I'm glad the scalp issues cleared up after stopping stopping Rinvoq
that was prescribed to help you not cause more lesions oh my goodness
I'm afraid to try any of these biologics like Rinvoq or Dupixent if they're even available in Canada not sure yet
I will meet up with my dermatologist in a month or so to see what she suggest as a further course if actions the steroid cream only does so much
It help but new itchy nodules keep popping up
It's like the game of whack-a-mole; you never know where it's going to raise its head and pops up all over the place and then we try and whack it with creams etc all to no avail unfortunately
Keep calm and carry on
Take care of yourself and your wife.β€οΈ

It's possible for medications to trigger prurigo nodularis (PN) due to immune system reactions. Some cancer treatments, for example, have been linked to PN. However, without specific information about your prostate medication and its known side effects, it's difficult to confirm this theory. It's important to discuss your Show Full Answer
Martyn ~The AI has the information. There are many other 'things' that usually accompany PN. whether it is cancer, another skin condition, start about the same time. The relationship between them are not known, that I know of, nor is there a complete listing of what starts what and when.
Also, I have had PN for a few years, and after stopping Dupixent due to side effects of breathing issues (I have both Asthma and copd), I then started Rinvoq, and THAT did create massive amounts of scabby lesions on my scalp. Luckily for me, when I stopped Rinvoq, those went away. That is not listed as Rinvoq's side effects, but it is what it did to me, possibly because I do have PN, which is an oxy-moron because I took it FOR PN, for it to create more. It would be great to know all of the ins and outs of PN and its sides!

Sorry to hear about your issue.
In my humble honest opinion PN is definitely an immune system response to a variety of instigating factors
The body responds and reacts to various biological threats if feels it has to attack and defend against.
The white blood cells go overboard trying to attack the intrusive agent whatever it may be and protect the body from the invader
I've developed severe anemia at the same time that this PN was diagnosed
Also extreme hair loss at the same time
It seems very coincidental that all 3 health issues occurred at the exact same time??? Makes you wonder?
My doctor is doing new blood tests for aplastic anemia hemolytic anemia and even leukemia as all 3 involve the bone marrow not producing enough red blood cells and the white blood cells are destroying healthy red blood cells literally a war between the two types of cells
Therefore no amount of iron supplements will help cure it.
Just waiting on the results.
Take care Martyn
