Members shared their experiences with fibromyalgia alongside prurigo nodularis, with many describing how PN has brought the worst pain they've experienced despite having lived with fibromyalgia and various types of arthritis for years. Several members offered practical strategies that have helped them manage symptoms, including alternating Benadryl and Zyrtec every four hours, using Eucerin lotion for severe dry skin, wearing only loose cotton clothing, keeping their homes cool, taking antidepressants or nerve medications to manage stress-related flares, and trying medications like Cymbalta or Plaquenil. A recurring theme was the frustration of navigating multiple conditions without clear answers or coordinated care, with members emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy, requesting that providers communicate with each other, and recognizing that stress appears to play a significant role in triggering or worsening both conditions.

Yes I have Fibromyalgia for 20+ years and 3 types of arthritis but this PN ( just diagnosed a month ago) is the worst. Can't take the Dupixent so was told to take Benadryl, 4hrs later take Zyrtex. SO every 4 hrs I take one then the other & that has helped me more than anything & I put EUCERIN LOTION all over because my skin is Super dry. Can only wear loose cotton clothing because other makes me itch. Cannot take the heat at all & I keep my house very cool. Sure hope this helps you & others. I'm 70 yrs old & never heard of this skin disease. One more thing. Stress caused me to break out. Too much within a very short time frame.

I would suggest that you request that all providers email or send letters to each other. Sometimes it requires the patient to be their own advocate to start the ball rolling. It does get frustrating when health care is disjointed. If they don't wish to honor your request, itay be time to reevaluate the providers.

My physician recommended Cynbalta for the fibromyalgia. It serves dual functions: antidepressant and chronic pain. Good luck.

I too have Fibro & 2 types of arthritis & PN has been the worse of anything & mine is caused by too much stress within a short time. I'm pn antidepressants & I asked my doctor for some nerve pills & those have helped me stay calm & for now, no new breakouts. Please keep us posted. Stay hydrated & put on lotion for dry skin. I use EUCERIN. I've never had dry skin before this & I'm 70.

Yes, I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. So far none of my physicians have discussed a connection.
