How Can I Stop Hair Loss....?
My first thought is that the alopecia can be an autoimmune condition along with the PN. I would continue to follow the recommendations of your dermatologist. I have the nodules on my scalp too and as of late finally have control of my scalp. Hopefully, it lasts. I hope you're proud of yourself for staying the course of your treatment plan and not giving up. Yay for you!
Hi @A MyPrurigoTeam Member. I have been diagnosed with both PN and alopecia. Started losing my waist length hair in "dreadlock like clumps" 3 years ago. I have shaved it once, got it to regrow to about 3" long and lost it all again. Some places lost it 3 times. The prurigo nodules make it so much worse. I have developed nodules all over my entire skull. While hairs tried to grow, they would hit the scar tissue and couldn't get through the skin so turned and wrapped themselves around each other under my skin. It has been an awful battle attempting to heal my scalp (and face). I am now able to report that approximately 85% of my nodules have completely healed. I am growing hair back again but in various lengths and still have bald spots. I have been on Dupixent for 19 weeks for the NP. I also am taking Olumiant for hair loss (an oral Jak inhibitor), use Opzelura cream (another JAK inhibitor), and am trying Eucrissa cream. I also use Men's Rogaine 5% nightly. I have seen significant results in just the past couple of months. Best advice I can give is get into a proper dermatologist who also treats alopecia and keep seeing them regularly. New treatments are coming out, samples can be tried, there are clinical trials, and hope is not lost. It has been a painful, slow, embarrassing, and life changing experience for me but I am more hopeful today than in 5 years.
