Long term usage of antibiotics may cause other problems. Resistance to the bacteria that is being treated, side effects, systemic effects. As much as we think of antibiotics as helpful, the harmful should be considered as well.

Long-term antibiotics are sometimes used to treat secondary bacterial infections caused by scratching PN nodules. However, they are not a primary treatment for PN itself. Always consult a dermatologist for tailored advice.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Me too! I actually had better luck when I backed off a bit. And used Witch Hazel Solution. It's been around forever, I remember it in my grandmothers bathroom as a kid.. It is a natural astringent for all skin types, and calms and cools the skin. I started using it in a spray bottle, I mist my whole body with it. The less we touch and scrub..lol..The better! Gentle cleansing, with no washing it off. I even mist my face with it before I use makeup. Try it for a week..Hopefully, you will find it as helpful as I have! Darcy

OMG! The insect diagnosis again! I woke up on a Saturday morning thinking I was bitten by gnats. I called telemedicine for help. The doctor provided information based on appearance and verbal information. The good news was that they said if I didn't feel better in 2-3 days, I needed to be seen. My PCP was not convinced that it was all insect related and told me to get to a dermatologist for a biopsy. The biopsy was positive for PN. While waiting for the results, my husband and I set up an insect proof system for the porch! Had the outside of the house sprayed, candles, insect zapper, etc., etc. It's hard not to go crazy when insects are involved!!!
