Bleach Bath

A MyPrurigoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Palm City, FL

I have several purigo lesions that just will not heal. I read about bleach baths and tried one last night. This morning my lesions are calmed down and are no longer red and weepy. It's a minor miracle for me!. Can anyone with more experience help me out? How often are bleach baths safe for us? I am concerned that the bleach will dry my skin out and start another horrible cycle. Thanks

I'm afraid that bleach baths can be very harmful to your body in many ways. I will tell you that I heard apple cider vinegar will help with the pain, itching and soreness. I tried soaking a wash cloth with it and dabbed it on my sores and it really helped the hardened crusty sores because it was like it really soaked into them and stopped the itching for several hours. I'm might try chilling the vinegar and just laying the cloth on my sores and let it soak in real well. I try not to rub with the cloth because it just makes the sores raw and burn. I will tell you that it kinda stings at first but it stops pretty quickly. I don't know if this helps or not I'm afraid you could cause yourself more problems sitting in bleach bath. I'm more on the side of natural healing, instead of putting more chemicals into my body.

Thank you; I am very new to this, and appreciate help & tips. I did try the colloidal bandages, but they kept my sores too wet and one became infected. Mine are sore at night, too. I'm going put wet washcloths in the freezer today. That sounds good!

I have started using hydrocolloid patches. It helps with the itching some and I don't pick at them so much. I get the sheets and cut the to fit larger places like my elbows and the the small round ones for individual sores. Those also have tea tree oil on them. You can find them on Amazon. My sores always feel better in the morning. I think this is the day things are going to get better but by the afternoon they are flared up and stinging and itching. I also use cold packs on place that itch. That seems to calm the nerved down.
