I Had My Nodules Injected Today With Steroid Shots . Has Anyone Else Had This Done And If So What Should I Expect From It ?
Hi Leesa! I have had scalp lesions injected with steroids. The injections shrunk and healed the nodules. I experienced no negative side effects. In terms of the psychological/emotional effects of PN, I focus on the positive aspects in my life. I live with several chronic diseases so staying positive is survival and happiness for me. If you can, try to focus on things you love and bring you happiness. For me, it is phoning a friend, reading, playing Mah Jongg, taking a walk, prayer and meditation. Try to focus on your joy. It will get better once you have a reliable treatment plan in place.πππ
Steroid injections, like triamcinolone, are commonly used to reduce inflammation and itching in prurigo nodularis nodules. You may notice reduced itching and some shrinking of the nodules over time. I understand that statement, and I too get there. It's tiring and never ending. I look forward to the windows that provide no itch, being able to be in the sun (sometimes), enjoying doing something that does not include putting on ointments, 3 different lotions on different body parts, require me to figure out what I can where in cold weather that doesn't make things worse. Like playing ball with my cat, sewing, watching a movie inhouse with friends. Just a few of my winter go-to's. Everyone is different and has their 'thing', relax, enjoy those things you love, and that will help your overall feeling. Remember to breathe, just breathe.. we are here together. π«
You are so sweet . I just feel defeated right now .
Lesa, you are not alone in that feeling! That is the big thing about PN, is that it does not always act the same or respond to treatments the same. Hence many of our Drs do/have tried an array of different things, as each person doesn't respond the same, and each person does not choose the same treatment either. So it's like a complex puzzle to figure out what works for you, and when that works. Things like humidity can change things drastically too.
Know that you are not alone in this! Most of us go thru many options to find the best that works and when it works for us.
