Researching Calm And Or Cure

Hi all
First posting here but have been following/read most of the threads going back some years on all and any forums I could find.

I’ve had NP for around 3 years, only recently formally diagnosed, although had nasty nodules just on my bum a few years before that, that in retrospect must have been an early iteration. More recently started very aggressively on lower legs which combined with Dermatillomania (overwhelming skin picking desire) left me in constant agony. Now spread to whole body… read more

That's very interesting. My hip was replaced 9 years ago and while the skin on that thigh is still numb that's where the purigo developed -- a patch about 10 or 12 inches long -- following a nerve path. Even though the skin is numb my leg hurts.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine (delivered by an experienced well-recognized practicioner) helped me through menopause decades ago. I am thinking about seeing her again for the purigo. My dermatologist did a biopsy so I am sure about the diagnosis and she prescribed Dupixent which is outrageously expensive. I have used it for about 2 months and see some improvement -- not huge but it is receding rather than expanding. Gel bandages (available on Amazon) that absorb the exudate seems to help healing of the doing lesions. I was old to leave them on for 2 or 3 days at a pop. My lesions follow a nerve path on my thigh, the skin of which has been numb for almost 10 years after a hip replacement -- that is now going south. Hope you find relief.
